
I am a post-doctoral researcher at Bielefeld University. My primary fascination in research is how observations at the largest scales in our Universe can provide fundamental insights on properties of the smallest constituents of matter, i.e. elementary particles. I am thereby particularly interested in improving our understanding of the nature of neutrinos.
By extracting information from cosmological observations I constrain theories of physics beyond the standard model. I thereby apply Monte Carlo methods on cosmological data of e.g. the cosmic microwave background or the large scale structure of the Universe. I am particularly interested in aspects of neutrino physics like non-standard interactions and large lepton asymmetries. But I also have a strong interest in the even less understood particle content of the Universe, namely dark matter.
I am also enthusiastic about outreach and science communication. I have helped with the design of a cosmo-themed escape game COSMOmission that now lives in Wissenswerkstadt (a science forum) in Bielefeld and I gave public lectures at high schools, in a mobile planetarium, in a pub and at FameLab (science communication competition).
My career path
I have done my undergraduate studies at RWTH Aachen (Germany), with Prof. Yvonne Wong (nowadays based at UNSW in Sydney, Australia) as the advisor of my master thesis. I then continued my academic path in Bielefeld (Germany) to receive a PhD with Prof. Dominik Schwarz in 2017. After a very short postdoc in Bielefeld, in 2018 I moved to the beautiful city of Valencia (Spain) to work with Prof. Gabriela Barenboim. Interrupted by maternity leave with baby no. 1, I did another postdoc in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) with Prof. Marco Drewes from 2021 until 2024, with the individual fellowship CHARGÉ DE RECHERCHES (CR) by F.R.S.-FNRS Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique. After maternity leave with baby no. 2, I am now back in Bielefeld as a postdoc where I am a member of the Collaborative Research .
I feel extremely honored that I have been selected to receive the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz price by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft in 2026.
